Taxpayers SUPPORTS City of Santee One-Cent Sales Tax Measure

The City of Santee has demonstrated strong long-term fiscal management with a sales-tax rate left unchanged since 1980, and the measure is proposed in response to a well-documented unfunded infrastructure backlog - the City’s FY2026-30 CIP identifies roughly $333 million in unfunded projects, and the City provided the Association a draft 10-year spending plan detailing how revenue from this tax will be applied to these priorities. The measure is also aligned with the Association’s preference for measures to include sunset clauses, which will allow voters to evaluate the effectiveness of the City’s use of these tax revenues after 10 years.
