Taxpayers SUPPORTS San Diego Unified School District $3.5 Billion Bond Measure

The Association SUPPORTS San Diego Unified due to the District’s strong credit ratings, robust and transparent oversight track record, commitment to Current Interest Bonds, and demonstrated facility needs that are well evidenced in its 500-page application for endorsement. However, the measure’s inclusion of $200 million in funding (around 5.7% as a share of total bond dollars) dedicated to workforce housing runs counter to the Association’s policy preferences. While the inclusion of workforce housing is not an automatic disqualifier for support, the Association does not view general obligation bonds as an appropriate vehicle for financing housing.
